The official visitors center for the
John Manned Space Flight Center in Houston
is called "Space Center Houston".

This 570-foot monument was listed in the Guinness Book of World Records
as the tallest monument column in the world.
Battleship Texas State Historic Site
Permanently anchored on the Buffalo Bayou and the Houston
Ship Channel. One of the attractions in Houston's
1200 acre San Jacinto Battleground State Historic Site.
Buffalo Bayou
The Buffalo Bayou is a 52 mile long, slow moving waterway
that is lighted at night and used for outdoor recreation
such a canoeing, kayaking, hiking, and cycling. There are
many parks along the banks of the Buffalo Bayou including
Allen's Landing, the Buffalo Bayou Art Park, Buffalo Bayou Park,
Guadalupe Park, Hidalgo Park, Memorial Park, Sam Houston Park,
Sesquicentennial Park, Spotts Park, and tony Marron Park.
Galveston Island
This 27 mile long, 3 mile wide, barrier island
is located about 50 miles southeast of Houston.
The city of Galveston covers the entire island
except for the tiny Village of Jamaica Beach.
Interstate Highway 45 is a causeway that
connects the Galveston Island to the Texas mainland.
Port of Houston
The huge Port of Houston is the 10th
busiest port in the world. It is
the #1 busiest port in the United States
in terms of foreign tonnage and the 2nd
busiest port in the world in terms
of total tonnage.
George Ranch Historic Park
480 acres of this 23,000 acre working ranch has
been turned into an outdoor museum highlighting
more then 100 years of Houston's history.
Glenwood Cemetery
Final resting place of Howard Hughes, William P. Hobby,
and other noteable people in Texas history. The Glenwood
Cemetery was foundede in 1871.
Houston Heights Shopping District
This charming area is a center for antique shops, home decor shops, vintage clothing
shops, art galleries, and garden shops.
Grand 1894 Opera House
This beautifully restored 1894 theater is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
